Where I come from

I am from the waves.
From the sea salt and the breeze.

I am from the rays on a balcony.
A faded, warm smell of salted air.

I am friends with the dry broom,
the Desert flower I go back to

A gust of summer wind.

I'm from the fragrance of seas, the sore legs
the overlapping chatter.

From
Elena
and my other heart half keeper.
From Poseidon, lost friend I share my core with.

I'm from the waiting and the tears on the dock.
I'm from the open handedness, from the more the merrier.

I'm from the unknown
A distant comet
A glass of wine
The books of old

From the sails my grandfather hoisted and the freedom my mom gave me.

From every land we ever touched, every kiss we ever gave

From the mutual love we have always felt.

That’s where I come from.
